FSU football: Destyn Hill an impact player as a true freshman?
By Kelvin Hunt
Final Thoughts
The thought of leaning so much on young players at wide receiver in 2021 is scary. However, it lets me know the future could be extremely bright as those players gain experience.
My hope is Andrew Parchment, Ontaria Wilson, and Cam McDonald at the tight end can carry the load while players like Destyn Hill figure out where they can impact things the most.
Mike Novell and Kenny Dillingham pride themselves on making the offense a place for playmakers, isolating players in one-on-one matchups. Usually, young players lack the consistency necessary to be dependable.
I think that was the running theme with Malik McClain and Joshua Burrell in spring camp. I suppose we can expect the same for Destyn Hill early in fall camp. However, he’s a versatile wide receiver who’ll be able to attack the field in several areas.
If you don’t take anything else away from this piece, proceed with low expectations. A lot of factors go into wide receivers having success. The offensive line has to block, and quarterback play has to improve, but I think those things are achievable compared to years past.
I’d rather under-promise and over-deliver, but I look forward to hearing reports of how Hill progresses once he arrives on campus.
