Honorable Mentions

2016 Ole Miss game- This was the first game under Francois. It was absolutely amazing. This game seems to have foretold of both doom and success. Ole Miss was absolutely loaded with A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and Van Jefferson, all of whom are NFL wide receivers.

We had our own major talent on defense and offense. FSU just always seems to have a clutch vein where they can frequently win close games or stage major comebacks no matter what.

1979, 2013, and 2017 vs. Florida- Anytime FSU blows out UF is my favorite game. I absolutely hate Florida. 1979 is sentimental because that was the game that made my mom an FSU fan. 2013 and 2017 are my favorites because they are the last blowout wins we have had over UF and I loved every minute of each of them.

(You can find each game on youtube when you type in the year. Some are condensed options, highlights, and full games).

2015  vs. Miami- UM is on a cute little run right now of four straight wins, but FSU ran up seven wins in a row twice during this rivalry. This one was a good one!

The five straight one-score games from 2014 to 2018 was when the rivalry peaked again after the sanctions and lost decade. I am kinda glad it’s back. If only Miami could get some trophies out of this FSU down period, it would add some stakes to both clubs’ full return.

2012, 2013, and Bowden Bowls vs. Clemson- These feel great to watch enlight of the recent turn of this series. 2012 is a great comeback win with E.J. Manuel at the helm and 2013 is just an amazing blowout that I remember listening to on the radio during a campout with my dad. Obviously, any Bowden Bowl in the series is a fun watch.

2014 and Game of the Century vs. Notre Dame- This is one of the best games in the rivalry with Notre Dame but there are also many other great selections. It seems like every time we play Notre Dame both teams bring out their best and if you need any more hyping up before the September 5th matchup, watch all 10 of the historic matchups between the schools especially this one and “The Game of the Century.”

Conclusion

This series was demanding but very fun. Watching the older games with my family and asking them for game ideas put things in perspective about each rivalry and FSU Football as a whole.

I was able to see things through my mom’s eyes when we watched games from when she was on campus. I was able to walk down memory lane with my father, who was once recruited by the Bowden coaching staff.

It was an absolute blast from start to finish, and my favorite part was the most unexpected. In the time of a pandemic and limited capacity and reduced crowds, it was amazing to hear a packed National Championship game.

This series became a form of therapy and anticipation, as the nation starts to fully reopen, and the Doak readies for Notre Dame 2021. I hope you all enjoy these re-watches just as much as I have.

Please feel free to share your personal favorites. There are always classic FSU games that need a re-watch, and I would love to hear about more great games from before my time.
