We’ve seen FSU baseball get hot earlier this season. They beat Florida and swept Miami while looking like one of the best teams in the nation.

However, shortly after those wins, they lost a series against Wake Forest. The Noles just became the first team to take a series against Notre Dame and find themselves in another situation where their momentum could be stopped against an opponent they should beat.

FSU is getting close to being in a position to host a regional, and a loss against Florida Gulf Coast (26-17, 12-6 Atlantic Sun) would hurt those chances a great deal.

FGCU batters are hitting .279 with an on-base percentage of .385 and have slugged 39 home runs, six triples, and 80 doubles.

FGCU pitchers will enter the contest with a 5.10 ERA, with opposing teams batting .290, with 307 strikeouts and 204 walks in 374.1 innings. They have allowed 25 home runs.

Defensively, FGCU has 62 errors in 43 games for a fielding percentage of .960.

FSU pitchers enter the contest with a 3.17 ERA, with opposing teams batting .219, with 492 strikeouts and 144 walks in 380.1 innings.

FSU batters are hitting .242 with an on-base percentage of .361 and have 63 home runs, three triples, and 60 doubles.

Defensively, FSU has 48 errors in 42 games for a fielding percentage of .969.

FSU Keys To Victory

I wish I could say play the same way they did against Notre Dame over the weekend. That means making the routine play(only made one error in the series) on defense.

FSU pitchers need to continue doing what they’ve been doing all season. The onus is on the FSU offense. If they come to play they should win these two games easily. FGCU is a terrible defensive team, and they’ll kick it around if you put the ball in play.

Opposing hitters are hitting nearly .300 against them, and they average less than one strikeout per inning and walk a ton of guys.

However, FSU has been prone to losing a game they shouldn’t have all season. Here’s to hoping they take care of business and win Tuesday and Wednesday’s games. Carson Montgomery will start Tuesday’s game, and Ross Dunn will make his first career start in Wednesday’s game.

Tuesday’s first pitch will take place at 6 p.m. and will air on the ACC Network Extra.
