FSU football needed help at the wide receiver position in the 2021 recruiting cycle. FSU coaches brought in some talented freshmen wide receivers but knew they would need more experience and production at the position.

That’s where former Kansas wide receiver Andrew Parchment comes into play. Parchment committed to the Noles on December 31, 2020, but couldn’t join the program until he completed his courses at Kansas.

He’s a player FSU coaches couldn’t talk about during the signing period because he couldn’t sign with FSU until his courses wrapped up in Kansas.

Parchment completed those courses recently, and the FSU program announced his arrival on Twitter Monday.

I was always a fan of the Parchment addition but was somewhat worried there was nothing binding about his commitment to the Noles. He could have changed his mind at any time before enrolling at FSU and went elsewhere.

Parchment has been steadfast in his commitment, often working out with former Noles or coming to Tallahassee to work out.

The other issue I had was wishing he could have enrolled at FSU in the spring and gone through spring camp. Those practice reps in the offense would have been valuable even though he has lots of college game experience.

The good news is he’s been working out and should be able to hit the ground running when FSU football begins summer workouts. Those practices are largely run by the players, so it’ll be good for Parchment to form chemistry with his new teammates.

Impact

Andrew Parchment will be a major piece of the FSU offense this fall. He can create separation and attack teams vertically with explosive plays. He’ll also be a good person the younger wide receivers can talk to and gain insight to become better players.

Welcome to home Andrew Parchment!
