FSU football recruiting needs more playmakers in its 2022 recruiting class. FSU coaches brought in some high-quality talent in the 2021 recruiting class.

Those players could see early playing time in 2021, but the continued need for elite talent at the position remains.

FSU is pursuing a lot of top talent in the nation, and one of their biggest targets is five-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr.

Coleman Jr. has been recruited by FSU commits Travis Hunter, Nicco Marchiol, and AJ Duffy. Coleman Jr. received an FSU offer from the coaching staff in May 2020 and has 34 offers to date.

However, it looks as though Coleman Jr. might be closing in on a commitment date, according to his Twitter account Sunday night.

Kevin Coleman Jr. ranks as the No. 18 player overall, No. 2 wide receiver, and No. 1 player in Missouri. He checks in at 5’11” and 170 pounds with a verified 40-yard dash time of 4.61 over two years ago.

Coleman Jr. has surely improved on that time, but what was even more impressive is his short-area burst. His shuttle time was 4.16, and his vertical was nearly 33 inches over two years ago.

Coleman Jr. has great hands and would be a nightmare to cover in Mike Norvell’s offense. Coleman Jr. could be a factor on special teams as well.

FSU football is definitely in the mix, and the coaches have been recruiting him hard. The current commits have been in his ear non-stop, and the wide receiver is a position where he could contribute almost immediately.

I can’t describe what a commit from Coleman Jr. would mean for 2022 FSU’s recruiting class. The Noles hold the No. 9 position nationally, but a commitment from Coleman Jr. would push them to the top five in the nation.

We’ll have to wait and see what he decides to do on May 13th. It could be a commitment to an All-Star game or something as well. We never know how recruiting works, but be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled later this week!
