It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Doak Campbell Stadium packed to full capacity.

However, that could change in a few months as it looks like full capacity will be the expectation this fall, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Florida State University system.

"The State University System of Florida is pleased to announce that all 12 public universities expect to increase classroom occupancy to pre-COVID capacity by the 2021-22 academic year and return to pre-COVID operations. Further, we anticipate returning to full in-person participation in athletic and social activities on our campuses, including fan participation in stadiums and arenas."

The last time we’ve seen Doak Campbell was the 2018 opener against Virginia Tech, the first game of the Willie Taggart era.

There were over 75,000 fans in attendance, and that’s a number we might be able to expect on September 5 when FSU hosts Notre Dame in the 2021 season opener.

The 2020 season saw Doak Campbell opened on a limited basis due to COVID-19 protocols. The Noles played five home games with an average of about 15,000 people.

As you can imagine, those attendance numbers hurt several aspects of the program. Let’s take a look at the impact of having Doak Campbell Stadium at full capacity in 2021.
