FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has been in Tallahassee for nearly a year and a half. One of the biggest perceived weaknesses of his staff was the lack of ties to the state of Florida.

After going through a full recruiting cycle, Norvell has added some nice pieces to the staff over the first four months in 2021.

The first addition was hiring Ryan Bartow who has a massive network in-state. Other additions were adding Sabbath Joseph and former Miami head coach Randy Shannon.

However, it looks like Mike Norvell added another recent addition in Guy Lemonier Jr.

Guy Lemonier Jr. will be a graduate assistant,  according to his Twitter bio and originally hails from Miami. He played college football at Howard University and was a wide receiver.

Lemonier Jr. also has experience coaching 7 on 7 in Florida and should help strengthen ties in South Florida.

Thoughts

Mike Norvell has made inroads in the state and continues to make moves to strengthen the relationships needed to be successful in recruiting the best players in Florida.

The success isn’t going to happen overnight, but the Noles are positioning themselves to make a run in the next couple of years. It’s all riding on how well they perform in the 2021 season as the 2022 recruiting class is already off to an excellent start.

If they can hold serve and give recruits a reason to be excited about coming to Tallahassee? These coaches and support staff won’t have much trouble selling the vision.

We’ve seen it happen with FSU football once before under Jimbo Fisher. Players want to come to FSU, unlike the other two in-state schools who can’t seem to get out of their own way despite the Noles having their worst product on the field in our lifetimes.
