FSU football: 5 Noles that could be drafted in 2022
By Kelvin Hunt
Fabien Lovett
Fabien Lovett was one of the big additions to Mike Norvell’s inaugural 2020 class. If the Noles hadn’t signed Lovett, they’d likely be in trouble from a depth perspective.
I thought Robert Cooper would be the defensive tackle coaches would rave about in spring camp. However, that title goes to Lovett, who’s looked dominant at times this spring.
The question is that because he’s finally coming into his own, or is it because the FSU offensive line isn’t great and missing a couple of starters?
Lovett appeared in eight games last season with 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. He battled injuries and didn’t have a true offseason to become acclimated with Adam Fuller’s defensive scheme(the same can be said for Cooper).
However, Lovett has had a full spring and will have all of fall camp to sharpen his tools and will likely start on the defensive line in 2021.
As I mentioned with Cooper, NFL teams are always looking for guys that can make an impact in the trenches. It’s not impossible to think Lovett could hear his name called in next year’s draft.
