FSU baseball (23-16, 15-12 ACC) took a weekend series against non-conference opponent Troy Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 win.

It was a nice comeback for the Noles after getting shut out Saturday. The ‘Noles offense churned out eight hits, two of them home runs, and two doubles.

Matheu Nelson continues to make his case was the best player in college baseball, finishing 2-4 with his 20th home run and a double with two RBI’s.

Logan Lacy and Davis Hare had two hits, with Hare blasting the first home run of his college career.

That home run gave the Noles a 3-2 lead, and Matheu Nelson added on an insurance run with his 20th home run of the year.

Starting pitcher Conor Grady went five innings, scattering seven hits and striking out 13 batters with no walks. Grady allowed one earned run, a solo home run in the top of the first inning.

The FSU bullpen was lights out the rest of the way, only allowing one hit and walking two batters while striking out three.

Parting Thoughts

Troy played the Noles tough as all three games were relatively low scoring. FSU pitchers did a great job of making Troy hitters earn their keep, and had 44 strikeouts compared to only two walks.

The FSU offense left too many runners in scoring position in Saturday’s loss. They got some production from some players that haven’t produced, and it was needed since Robby Martin went 0-11. Elijah Cabell had some good at-bats and seems to be in a groove.

Logan Lacy had a huge series, going 6-11, and could be vital for the offense going into the series with Notre Dame.

Lacy was a big part of the offense early in the  year against Miami before suffering a hamstring injury. Tyler Martin is usually steady, but a combination of Lacey, Nelson, and Robby Martin is potent.

The Noles will travel to Notre Dame Friday with the first pitch at 6 p.m. ET. The game will air on the ACC Network.
