FSU football only had one player taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the 2021 NFL Draft saw four players taken.

Asante Samuel became a day two selection, but several former Noles saw their names on day three of the NFL Draft.

There were some surprises with Janarius Robinson and Joshua Kaindoh becoming fourth-round selections.

Hamsah Nasirildeen saw his name called in the sixth round, but Marvin Wilson and Tamorrion Terry didn’t hear their names called.

FSU Players Drafted

  • Asante Samuel Jr.-2nd rd., No. 47 overall (LA Chargers)
  • Janarius Robision-4th rd., No. 134 overall (Minnesota Vikings)
  • Joshua Kaindoh-4th rd., No. 144 overall (Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Hamsah Nasirildeen-6th rd., No. 186 overall (NY Jets)

The only FSU player that had potential that didn’t hear their name called was wide receiver Tamorrion Terry. He’ll likely sign as an undrafted free agent.

This year’s draft saw the most Noles taken since 2018 when six Noles saw their names in the NFL Draft.

The injury Hamsah Nasirildeen suffered at the end of the 2019 season likely cost him some money and why teams waited so late to take him. Some fans believed he should have come back to FSU for another year, but the risk wouldn’t have been worth it.

I doubt he could have improved his draft stock that much. He’ll be able to get paid and work towards securing that second NFL contract, which is where players can make some money.

I’ll have an entire post dedicated to why Marvin Wilson slid off the board because there’s a lot to unpack. Tamorrion Terry not hearing his name called isn’t surprising considering how things ended for him at FSU.

Both players need to get their head right if they want to find success at the next level. It’s one thing to talk about it, but if you’re not putting in the work, it’ll show up when the lights come on.
