Parting Thoughts

This draft class goes to show you the amount of talent wasted because of incompetent coaching and COVID-19 taking most of the 2020 season.

Marvin Wilson and Joshua Kaindoh were both top-10 players in the nation. There were four more players ranked in the top 100 that either was not drafted or didn’t finish their careers with FSU football:

  • Khalan Laborn (No. 29) (Dismissed)
  • Stanford Samuels (No. 38)(Signed as 2020 UDFA)
  • D.J. Matthews (No. 51) (Transferred to Indiana)
  • Cyrus Fagan (No. 97) (Transferred to NC State)

The lack of development began to fall off during the final years of the Jimbo Fisher era and fell off a cliff during the Willie Taggart era.

The task for Mike Norvell is developing players while getting FSU recruiting back to elite status. The 2022 recruiting class looks to bring the Noles back among the elite, but it’ll take a year or so to see if the talent develops the way it needs to be.

Norvell had a reputation and the player production that says he can get it done. Now, it’s time for FSU football fans to set back and watch the chef create a finished product.
