FSU baseball (16-13, 11-10 ACC) will look to get back on the winning side of things when they host Boston College (14-16, 4-14 ACC).

The Noles have lost five of their last eight games, with four of those five losses by one run. FSU pitching has been doing its part, but the offense and defense have reverted to issues from earlier in the season.

This series against Boston College is a chance for the Noles to right the ship and improve their chances of playing in the post-season.

Boston College batters are hitting .268 with an on-base percentage of .349 and have slugged 26 home runs, seven triples, and 65 doubles.

Boston College pitchers will enter the contest with a 6.53 ERA, with opposing teams batting .301, with 268 strikeouts and 137 walks in 239.2 innings. They have allowed 29 home runs.

Defensively, Boston College has 28 errors in 30 games for a fielding percentage of .973.

FSU pitchers enter the contest with a 3.26 ERA, with opposing teams batting .211, with 344 strikeouts and 112 walks in 265.1 innings.

FSU batters are hitting .238 with an on-base percentage of .354 and have 41 home runs, two triples, and 41 doubles.

Defensively, FSU has 35 errors in 29 games for a fielding percentage of .968.

Key To Victory

FSU baseball needs to do two things in this series to win. The Boston College pitching staff isn’t good at all, with teams batting over .300 against them. They issue a ton of walks and hits, and the FSU hitters have to step up their production.

FSU pitchers have been carrying the team the past few games, with the Noles would have won the five games they lost if the offense was any good.

Outside of about 4-5 hitters, the rest of the lineup has been automatic outs. Boston College hitters are decent, but FSU pitchers should be able to hold them in check as long as they don’t issue walks and the FSU defense makes the routine plays. Boston College is a threat to steal if they get runners on base.

FSU baseball needs to sweep this series, or at the very least, take two of three games. The first pitch will be at 6 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ACC Network Extra.
