Defense

I liked what I saw from the defense from the most part. It’s hard to judge everything in totality because they were not allowed to hit the quarterback.

However, they got consistent pressure on the quarterbacks and made a lot of tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. I saw Malcolm Ray flash a couple of times which would be huge if he can play meaningful snaps. Amari Gainer was all over the field making plays.

The FSU receivers made some plays but several of them were against tight coverage. The defense played physical and laid the wood on a few plays that caught my eye.

I wrote about wanting to see an aggressive defense that flowed the ball, and I saw quite a bit of that Saturday.

The secondary did a solid job of tackling in the run game, and the linebackers were physical for the most part.

One thing I need to see cleaned up was missed tackles. Treshaun Ward and others broke tackles on several carries.

Parting Thoughts

I thought the spring game was great. The product on the field was good and likely got the recruits in attendance excited about what’s possible in Tallahassee.

A solid number of fans showed up to the game despite the threat of bad weather and tickets only being available for about a month.

The future is bright in Tallahassee FSU football fans!
