Young Players Will Be Contributors

Malik McClain, Kevin Knowles, and Joshua Burrell were names fans heard constantly on the TV broadcast during the spring game.

I’m usually not too high on making a big deal out of spring game performances, but these three players looked the part in a different way.

I’d add Bryan Robinson to the mix of young receivers who were impressive. Robinson was hurt most of his freshman year and is starting show why he was so coveted as a recruit.

Malik McClain and Joshua Burrell were making plays against tight coverage and both showed they can stretch the field vertically.

That latter is something that was a question mark about Burrell. Kevin Knowles is wearing No. 26, which is the same number Asante Samuel Jr. wore.

Let’s say they gave that number to the right freshman because Kevin Knowles didn’t do anything but make plays in the game.

He had an interception and made some physical tackles coming downhill the same way Samuel’s Jr. did at FSU. I’m confident in calling him a dawg on defense after what I saw Saturday.
