It would have been easy for FSU baseball to come out flat Saturday after how they lost Friday night’s game.

However, the offense came out swinging the bats, and the Noles jumped on the Louisville Cardinals with an early 2-0 lead.

Nander De Sedas launched a home run in the top of the second, and David Hare had an RBI single in the top of the fourth.

FSU starting pitcher Bryce Hubbart battling through 4.1 innings, striking out seven, and walking six batters while giving up four earned runs.

All of those runs came courtesy of a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave the Cardinals a 4-2 lead. I felt Mike Martin Jr. should have pulled Hubbart a couple of batters before he gave up the grand slam because he wasn’t near the strike zone and was closing in on 100 pitches.

However, the FSU offense got one of those runs back in the top of the sixth after a lead-off triple by David Hare. Hare scored on a Tyler Martin sacrifice fly.

It was the top of the eighth inning where the Noles did the rest of the damage. They scored five runs, capped off by a three-run home run by Matheu Nelson to give them an 8-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.

Jack Anderson gave up a solo home run in the frame, but the Cardinals couldn’t get any closer losing, 8-5.

Nelson had two hits and three RBI, and Logan Lacey continues to swing a hot bat, going 3-5 with an RBI. Robby Martin and David Hare both finished the game with two hits.

The FSU offense pounded out 13 hits, with five of them going for extra bases.

It was a huge win for the Noles as they look to win the series Sunday with veteran pitcher Conor Grady on the mound. The first pitch will be at 4 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ESPN2.
