FSU football coaches are looking for talented players to add to their 2022 recruiting class. A recent Virginia de-commit could be up next after receiving an offer from the Noles a few weeks ago.

Three-star athlete Rodney Hill announced he was de-committing from his Virginia pledge Thursday morning via his Twitter account.

The de-commitment is something a lot of UVA fans expected after the FSU offer came apparently.

Hill hails from Statesboro, Georgia, which is about 4.5 hours northeast of Tallahassee, compared to eight hours south of Virginia University.

I know FSU football hasn’t been the dominant force they were a few short years ago, but there’s no comparison between the two programs from a historical perspective.

Hill checks in at 6’0″ 186 pounds and is the No. 542 ranked player nationally, No. 48 athlete, and No. 53 player in Georgia.

He holds 25 offers from FSU, Kentucky, Maryland, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Yale, and other smaller schools.

However, it looks like FSU football is the trend with several 247 Crystal Ball predictions coming Thursday.

From Wahoos247:

"This news came on the heels of landing an offer from Florida State. An offer that he said made his grandmother go “crazy.”“Oh she went crazy,” Hill said of when he told his grandma the news. “She went absolutely crazy. She always talked about it when I was growing up that I was going to be there one day and now it’s just happening. When I got it I was ‘wow I’m living the dream.’”"

UVA Board Response

"Ugh, can’t say we didn’t see this comingMan I hate FSU. That stunt last year canceling our game after we were in town was ridiculous. I hope they never extinguish their current dumpster fire and Florida takes Rodney from them."

"Grandma is stuck in the 90s. Like a lot of older folks she is reminiscing back to the glory days of FSU."

"Meh, I wish him the best. FSU is a declining program, IMO.Time to close on Claiborne and the Wade brothers."

"FSU isn’t the gig it used to be, but hey, good luck! We’ll get our shot to play them, and it will likely be a battle! So you’re either with us or against us! Let’s get it"

"Tallahassee is a dump. That said, FSU needs football and there is no way it’s a program that is in the rear view mirror for long. Wish Hill would have stayed as he could have been a huge player in our offense with his speed"

"Yeah, apparently Grandma hasn’t watched FSU play the last several years. They are horrible."

Parting Thoughts

The FSU football coaching staff has made it a priority to recruit all of Georgia hard as it’s a state that’s been fruitful for past FSU coaching staff.

FSU is recruiting him as a running back and Hill has a verified 100-meter time of 11.27 seconds nearly two years ago.

The Virginia fans responding like Hill de-committing and potentially coming to FSU as a terrible move is hilarious. It took them going life and death and winning in the last seconds to beat one of the worst FSU teams in years two years ago.

The ceilings of both programs aren’t comparable at all, not to mention FSU routinely gets more primetime TV slots.

The Noles have seven 2022 recruiting commits and Hill would be the second recruit labeled as an athlete in the class if he commits.
