FSU football had gotten away from the physical style of play that made them feared when they were at their peak.

I’ve heard media and analysts call the team soft and weak. It’s hard to argue team historically at the bottom of the ACC brings the fight to you.

Heck, I’ve called them soft a few times over the last six years.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell and staff what to change that and are emphasizing physicality at FSU’s spring practice. It’s a need to get the players to play with the right mentality, especially when adversity comes.  Norvell spoke with the media after Tuesday’s practice about a variety of things in the video below. One of them was injuries to Leonard Warner, Thomas Schrader, and Demorie Tate.

Injury Impact

It sucks to see any player get injured and not be available to play. Norvell said these three players would be out for an extended period, and we may get an update later at some point.

Norvell didn’t specify what the injuries were, but I’ll take that as they’ll return to summer camp at the earliest.

All three of the players will likely play some snaps this year when healthy. Warner would probably be in a backup role at the FOX position. Thomas Schrader would see time on the offensive line, and Demorie Tate would likely see time at the cornerback position.

The good news is none of them at solidified starters. However, missing the rest of spring camp means fewer reps and a lack of development for young players like Schrader and Tate. The FSU football secondary has depth with experience from the transfer portal.

The offensive line has better depth than year’s past, but this will give other players a chance to show what they can do. Young players at defensive end will get more reps in Warner’s place.

It could be a blessing in disguise, but you hate to see young players with potential miss valuable practice time. Here’s to hoping they heal up quickly and get back to practice soon.
