Linebackers

I wanted to separate this group in the same way that they have separated themselves. Amari Gainer and Emmett Rice are both carrying their added weight well and they could be impact players come fall.

Gainer keeps finding himself on the “Mission Takeaway” graphics sent out by coach Adam Fuller. He was one of the more talented players on defense last season and proving himself to be the same this season.

Rice can be an impact player. He is getting stuffs, is good in coverage, and won’t lose in one-on-ones. Outside of those two, the linebackers are battling for next up.

Stephen Dix Jr. started some last season and played very well but had freshmen moments. That has continued into the spring as he is still taking bad angles and showing poor defensive discipline.

The coaching staff challenged Kalen DeLoach in the offseason, and he has answered it. A player in the same situation is Jaleel McRae who was also challenged but is performing well.

DJ Lundy hasn’t had much buzz around his name but Adam Fuller raves about how he’ll be a player that will make an impact.

He flashes at times, but so does this whole team. I think come fall he will get more attention as he gets more reps.
