FSU baseball: Takeaways from Noles dominating Florida and Miami
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU Batters On Fire
What can I say? I have to tip my cap to the FSU hitters over the past few games. I’ve written about their struggles early in the year, so it feels great to write about their success of late.
FSU hitters had 151 at-bats over these four games, and the production was off the charts. They produced 44 runs on 52 hits with eight doubles and five home runs.
That’s a .344 average, and they only struck out 33 times (21.8 percent), which is down from 36 percent at one point earlier in the season.
One thing that likely helped, Florida wasn’t using their best starting pitcher, and Miami’s pitching staff isn’t dominant at all.
However, FSU hitters did a great job putting the ball in play and attacking when opposing pitchers got behind in the count.
They also walked 13 times and were robbed of a couple of hits with some great plays by the opposing team.
Parting Thoughts
FSU baseball is doing all of the little things well right now. The pitchers are throwing strikes, the defense is solid, and FSU hitters’ putting the ball in play. Good things usually happen when teams can do all three.
The Noles will welcome UCF to Tallahassee Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET.
