FSU baseball (9-6, 6-5 ACC) took their second win over Miami in as many days to clinch the series with a 9-1 win. The second game started much like the first, with the Noles jumping on the Canes in the first inning behind a two-run home run by Matheu Nelson.

Miami scored in the bottom of the first, but starting pitcher Bryce Hubbart worked his way out of a jam and settled in to dominate Miami for six innings.

His stat line reads eight strikeouts, two walks, four hits, and one earned run. FSU’s bullpen held Miami scoreless the rest of the way.

FSU scored runs in the first, third, fourth, and sixth innings. They were aided with Miami looking like Bad News Bears on defense, finishing the game with four errors.

FSU batters did a great job putting the ball in play, only striking out five times in the game, with 10 hits, while walking four times. They also did a good job of getting key two-out hits with runners in scoring position.

FSU’s defense was stellar, not committing any errors while making some excellent plays in the field to limit Miami’s chances of getting something going offensively.

FSU baseball continues to play well as a team. The ability to score runs early and give their pitchers some cushion before taking the mound is important. It’s also important they continue to add runs in subsequent innings and not get complacent with the runs they score early.

The Noles will look to sweep Miami Sunday afternoon, with Conor Grady taking the mound for the Noles. A sweep of Miami and beating Florida earlier in the week would be a huge boost to a team that’s beginning to understand how good they can be.

Here’s to hoping they don’t get complacent and get the job done for the series sweep!
