The revenge tour for FSU basketball through the ACC Tournament should end Saturday night against Georgia Tech.

The Noles were 1-1 against the Yellow Jackets in the regular season. The loss against Georgia Tech seemed to shape the identity of sorts for FSU.

Maybe not identity, but a blueprint for when the Noles are off their game with little to no energy from the tipoff.

That FSU basketball team showed it at different points in the season, notably, against Wake Forest, UNC in the second half of the second game, and against Notre Dame.

However, FSU basketball played inspired basketball against North Carolina Friday night. They should have since they hadn’t played in nearly a week, and they will have no excuse with an ACC Tournament title on the line Saturday.

Keys To Victory

  • Playing with energy is key
  • Avoid sloppy turnovers
  • Make free-throws

I can’t stress enough how important it is for FSU to play with consistent energy for the WHOLE game. When they play with energy, they are tough for anyone to beat. I liked the energy they gave Friday night, and hopefully, the sloppiness was due to the long layoff.

This brings me to the 18 turnovers Friday night. What’s even worse is FSU had 21 turnovers in their previous loss to Georgia Tech. If they can keep them to 13 or lower, they’ll likely beat Georgia Tech with ease.

FSU basketball has been consistent at the free-throw most of the year, yet they struggled in the last Georgia Tech game going 14 of 23.

Parting Thoughts

The Noles are the more complete team and will need to pressure Georgia Tech’s, Jose Alvarado. He’s a player that thrives off momentum along with Michael Devoe.

FSU should have the edge rebounding, and everywhere else as long as they are actively engaged. We’ve seen them come out flat with the ACC Regular Season Title on the line. Will they do it with the ACC Tournament Title? I don’t think so.
