No. 15 FSU basketball was to meet Duke in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament Thursday night.

That game has been canceled due to COVID-19 issues, and the announcement came from the ACC Mens’ Basketball Twitter account.

Duke won two games in the tournament against Boston College in the first round, and Louisville in the second round before bowing out before facing the Noles in the quarterfinals.

FSU was a -3.5 betting favorite, which was basically a home game for Duke with the game taking place in Greensboro.

It sucks with the game canceled, and it’s the second time this season a game against Duke saw postponement or cancellation due to COVID-19 issues.

However, it could be a blessing in disguise as the Noles will be the fresher team when they take on the winner of North Carolina and Virginia Tech on Friday.

It would be the third game for North Carolina and the second game for Virginia Tech. I wrote how the depth of FSU could be a factor in the tournament setting earlier this week.

The benefit of the double-bye and cancellation of the Duke game could be huge in the finals should the Noles be victorious Friday.

I gave Coach K some heat on social media a few days ago regarding his comments earlier in the season about continuing to play during COVID-19. No, I don’t think he was ducking FSU in the quarterfinals as they had already won two games and basically had a home game.

I still don’t believe they are worthy of making the NCAA Tournament, so here’s to hoping all of the people affected by COVID in his program get well soon.

FSU will tip-off against the winner of Virginia Tech/North Carolina Friday at 9 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN2.
