Preseason Expectations

FSU basketball lost players in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft in Patrick Williams and Devin Vassell.

They also lost arguably their most valuable player in Trent Forrest, who went undrafted but signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz, splitting time between the NBA and the NBA G-League.

Here are the ACC Preseason Rankings:

  • Virginia (97)
  • Duke (34)
  • FSU (15)
  • North Carolina (7)
  • Louisville (2)

FSU bested all of those teams except for Duke, with the game postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

It’s one thing to lose that type of firepower and still be picked third, but to be in a position to repeat as regular-season champions? Bring that award back to Tallahassee, man!
