The 2022 and 2023 recruiting cycles are important for FSU football. These two recruiting classes are key in getting Mike Norvell and the program where they want to go.

That destination is competing for ACC and National Championships, the standard set at FSU many years ago.

One key in these two recruiting cycles is the number of high-quality legacy recruits that could help the Noles in that process.

One of those players, 2023 defensive end Lamont Green Jr., choose to commit to the Noles Friday morning. Green Jr. is the second 2023 defensive end in as many days, with Gabriel Harris announcing his intentions Thursday.

Lamont Green Sr. announced the news on his Twitter account:

Green Jr.  joins running back Cedric Baxter Jr. and Gabriel Harris as the third FSU commit in the 2023 recruiting class. He doesn’t have a composite ranking because it’s early for most recruiting services, but he’ll likely be among the top players in the nation.

Green has 12 offers from the likes of FSU, Miami, Louisville, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and others. He checks in at 6’4″ and 210 pounds with two years of high school left.

The pass rusher area has been one of the major needs on the roster for a few years, and the coaching staff has made it a priority. The Noles have two major commitments in the 2022 class, with at least one more defensive end target who could join the program.

Green Jr. hails from Gulliver Prep High School, located in Miami, Florida. The coaching staff looks to make in-roads in South Florida, and getting a player like Green will aid in that cause.

This commitment is another legacy committing to FSU with a few more to go in the 2022 recruiting class. If the Noles can land them all, these two classes will be game-changers for the program.
