FSU football: Reaction 4-star 2023 DE Gabriel Harris commits to Noles

I know FSU football fans will say the commit is from 2023 and a lot can change between now and then.

However, FSU fans want proof things are going in the right direction as well, right? Look no further than a 2023 blue-chip defensive end from Georgia committing to the Noles.

Four-star Gabriel Harris received a ton of 247 crystal ball predictions in favor of FSU the last few days and decided to go public with his commitment.

Harris announced the decision via his Twitter account Thursday afternoon:

Harris joins running back Cedric Baxter Jr. as the second FSU commit in the 2023 recruiting class. He doesn’t have a composite ranking because it’s extremely early for most recruiting services, but 247Sports lists him as the No. 85 player overall and No. 6 weakside defensive end in the nation.

Harris has nine offers from the likes of FSU, Miami, Kentucky, South Carolina, Minnesota, and others. He checks in at 6’4″ and 237 pounds with two years of high school left.

The pass rusher area has been one of the major needs on the roster for a few years, and the coaching staff has made it a priority. The Noles have two major commitments in the 2022 class, with at least one more defensive end target who could join the program.

There are a couple more targets in the 2023 recruiting class who are trending towards the Noles.

I know it’s a long way from 2023, but a player committing at this juncture likely believes in what the coaching staff is trying to do in Tallahassee. Of course, anything can happen, but this sheds light on the movement to target more Florida and Georgia players I wrote about earlier this week.

If Mike Norvell and staff coupled with the players can show improvement on the field in 2021? It won’t be long before the Noles are back in the mix among the elite.
