Robert Cooper

I’ve talked about the importance of Mike Norvell and staff addressing the defensive tackle position in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

One of those reasons is Robert Cooper will likely be gone after the 2021 season. Cooper has been steady in his play through the first three seasons.

He’s done a great job of reshaping his body to be more effective and play more snaps without gassing.

Cooper played OK in spurts last season but still saw his production not match the previous year.

The defensive line as a whole played well below expectations, but Cooper’s play in 2021 will be vital to the defense improving and stopping the run with the defensive end additions from the transfer portal looking to address the lack of a pass rush.

Can Cooper turn in a strong senior season? I hope the opportunity of having a real offseason while working with the strength and conditioning staff can pay dividends for Cooper in 2021.
