FSU football has developed a wave of recruiting momentum over the last couple of months. That wave sparked the finish of the 2021 recruiting class and carried over to the white-hot start of the 2022 cycle.

The Noles added about 12 players two of its 2021 class and three to its 2022 recruiting class. The Noles added about 12 players to its 2021 class and three to its 2022 recruiting class.

Why has that been the case after going 3-6 in 2020? What about not being able to host recruits on campus like normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

What has changed? FSU head coach Mike Norvell dropped a nugget in Wednesday post-signing day press conference that hit the nail on the head.

It’s a two-minute clip that highlights something I had began to notice on social media.

Have you ever been invited somewhere by folks, and there isn’t a genuine excitement about the trip? A lot of times, you’ll look for reasons not to go, right?

Something I noticed on social media the past few months highlights what Mike Norvell mentions in the clip. The players currently on the roster have been doing a lot of recruiting, outside of what the coaches have been doing.

As soon as a player FSU is recruiting posts something related to FSU football on social media, current players in his mentions inviting him to join the team and be great.

It is trickling down to players that haven’t graduated high school and enrolled at FSU yet.

I can remember a few commits going hard trying to help build the class they were a part of at the time. However, I don’t recall players on the team doing the same.

I can’t imagine the energy recruits would have when on campus if the players didn’t seem like they wanted to be there or that they were a part of building something special.

The current players had every opportunity to leave with how the transfer portal popped the past few months. Those that stayed indicate they want to be there and believe in what Mike Norvell and the staff are building.
