FSU football: 5 defensive players from 2020 class poised for breakout
By Cole Maines
Meiko Dotson and Jarrian Jones
Dotson only played sparingly due to injuries but still recorded nine tackles in three games. On the other end of the spectrum, Jones played a lot and played with an injury most of the year.
I honestly think both Dotson and Jones will take a massive jump, mainly because it can’t get worse much worse. The defense this season will most likely move into the Nickle base.
Dotson could start if healthy and given the chance to prove that he can still be the national leader in interceptions.
In a few snaps against North Carolina, he got put on a highlight a couple of times, but he was in the position to make a play on the ball and didn’t have the size and length to make the play.
Those are things you can live with because those types of plays aren’t routine.
Jones was terrible most of the year, but I do think injuries and lack of confidence hurt him big time. He has the physical ability when healthy, it’s all about getting reps and gaining confidence in the scheme.
I think we’ll see a big improvement from him if he’s on the field in 2021.
