FSU basketball: Going inside Noles 3-game winning streak
By Kelvin Hunt
What’s Next
FSU basketball will have a chance to avenge one of their losses in their next outing when the No. 20 Clemson Tigers travel to the Tucker Center Saturday at 3 p.m.
Clemson has one of the best defenses in the country, but the Noles were leading at the half in their first game.
Clemson did a better job of forcing the Noles to take contested jump shots while attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line 33 times, compared to just nine for the Noles.
I’m not that great at math, but Clemson was +18 from the free-throw line and won the game by 10 points.
FSU needs to continue doing what they’ve been doing the past three games. They need to attack the rim, take three-point shots when they present themselves, and crash the boards like no other.
I think Leonard Hamilton is beginning to find the right combinations, and players are becoming more aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
Hence, we are not seeing players take many shots they shouldn’t be taking. Raiquan Gray has emerged the past few games, with M.J. Walker and Anthony Polite being solid all season.
Scottie Barnes is still working on finding his exact role after missing the North Carolina game with an injury.
Clemson lost to Georgia Tech Wednesday night, so I’m sure they’ll come to Tallahassee looking to get back on the right track.
If the Noles can roll past them, they could go on quite a run in the next few games.
