FSU football coaches continue to add to its 2021 recruiting class.

FSU football still has major roster needs in its 2021 recruiting class, and they are using the transfer portal to address a number of them.

However, Mike Norvell and staff addressed the safety position Sunday with South Carolina transfer Jammie Robinson.

He’s the sixth transfer player to join the 2021 recruiting class, along with quarterback McKenzie Milton, Jarques McClellion, Jermaine Johnson, Keir Thomas, and Andrew Parchment.

Robinson announced via his Twitter account.

Robinson checks in at 5’11” and 200 pounds. He provides immediate help at the safety position with Hamsah Nasirildeen heading to the NFL.

The former three-star recruit played in 12 games in 2019 as a freshman with the South Carolina Gamecocks. He played in 10 games in 2020 before entering the transfer portal.

He was third on the team with 62 tackles as a freshman and second on the team with 74 tackles as a sophomore. He also accounted for eight pass breakups and two interceptions over those two years and will have three years remaining to play due to the 2020 not counting against eligibility due to COVID-19.

Thoughts

There has been a lot of smoke with Robinson since he was in Tallahassee a few days ago. He’s the No. 23 player in the 2021 recruiting class which leaves three spots.

This commitment shows the coaches’ recruiting strategy of gaining experience and players that can play right away from the transfer portal.

The FSU secondary missed Nasirildeen’s presence during the season as he was rehabbing his injury. He made an immediate impact upon his return, and Robinson should have the same effect as his production has been similar in his first two seasons.

The Noles added his former teammate Keir Thomas Saturday night, and will be looking to address the offensive tackle position when a quality option presents itself. Stay tuned, FSU football fans, as this class will be better than its final ranking after National Signing Day.
