Player Impact

  • McKenzie Milton brings a ton of college experience to FSU, but it’ll be beneficial for him to get familiar with how Mike Norvell does things. The reps he’ll receive in the spring will allow him to compete directly for the starting QB job as opposed to if he were to enroll in the summer. It’ll also allow him to form chemistry with the wide receivers and the offensive line to learn his cadence at the line of scrimmage. He’ll also be great at setting the tone regarding the culture of the program for the younger players.
  • Jarquez McClellion brings a lot of college experience as well, and he’ll have similar benefits to Milton regarding learning how FSU likes to do things. The other benefit is getting familiar with the defensive scheme and helping the younger defensive backs along the way.
  • Malik McClainJoshua Burrell, and Joshua West are young wide receivers/tight ends that will benefit a ton from enrolling early. They will have the opportunity to get adjusted to college life with football practice. Those positions are super thin depth-wise, and they will help give the team better numbers to run practice. Both positions are difficult to be productive in as a freshman, so the reps they get in the spring will help them big time when the fall rolls around. I don’t expect them to be goto players or anything as freshmen, but those reps can help them get on the field earlier than if they were not early enrollees.
  • Joshua Farmer will be playing on the defensive line. He’ll enjoy the benefits of getting adjusted to college life too. However, the biggest benefit to him will be getting into the strength and conditioning program with Coach Storms. He has done a lot of work to transform his body over the past year, but getting these extra months will be huge in helping him become a contributor earlier than later.
  • Kevin Knowles will be a defensive back, so enrolling early gives him the same benefits as the others. This position is one that often gives freshmen a chance to get on the field earlier than others. He could find time on special teams, so getting used to how things go at practice will give him an edge over other freshmen defensive backs that don’t enroll in the spring.
