FSU football lost a commitment from three-star Kimo Makaneole.

FSU football was in a familiar situation going into the Early Signing Period a couple of weeks ago.

They had one player (Malachi Wideman) that opted not to sign early in the 2020 recruiting period, and ultimately he chooses to de-commit and go elsewhere.

Mike Norvell had one player that opted not to sign early in the 2021 recruiting period, and it looks like he’ll be going elsewhere.

Three-star offensive lineman Kimo Makaneole announced his de-commitment from FSU via his Twitter account Monday evening:

It wasn’t a surprise as there have been rumors flying for quite some time regarding his infatuation with LSU or playing in the SEC. I suppose this instance gives further validation that if a committed player doesn’t sign early nowadays, he has to be treated like a player that’s not a commitment.

Makaneole was a player with potential, but he wasn’t going to see the field in 2021 because he needs time to develop. That’s why the de-commitment isn’t a huge loss because there’s a way for FSU football to make better use of his scholarship slot.
