FSU football will finish with a losing record for a third consecutive year.

FSU football didn’t have the success on the field that many fans hoped for at the beginning of the year.

The fact the program was able to get nine games in during a pandemic has to be considered a success despite the lack of success on the field.

While it was a rough season, those nine games made things much better financial wise compared to if they would have not been able to play at all.

Frankly, it was amazing the team was able to play nine games, considering how the first two games went. The Noles lost as betting favorites against Georgia Tech and got taken to the woodshed in a rivalry game against Miami.

It would have been easy for the team to check out and not be responsible enough to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols. However, dwindling numbers and contract tracing afterward made it difficult for the program to field a team during the latter part of the year.

A positive test and contract tracing are why the final game against Wake Forest was canceled Friday afternoon, which officially ended the 2020 season. Some FSU football players and coaches took to their Twitter accounts to voice their thoughts:

It’ll be interesting to see what happens between now and when spring practice begins in a couple of weeks. It’ll be good for the players to be able to go home and spend some time with their families.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some roster changes. Marvin Wilson already declared for the NFL Draft, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some players opt for the transfer portal. However, some seniors may opt to return next year since this season didn’t count towards their eligibility.

The coaches will be sorting through the transfer portal to see what’s available and evaluating who could be the best fit to help turn this program around.

The season is over, but it’ll be an interesting couple of weeks to see how everything shakes out.
