The Importance Of The Transfer Portal

One of the biggest issues hampering the FSU football program is youth and lack of development. FSU is playing a ton of freshmen, and sophomores who are competing against guys two or three years older.

Most of them are not ready to play physically, while some of the older players on the roster have lacked being developed the past couple of years.

FSU could recruit solely from the high school ranks, but they’ll continue to experience the same issues. However, players in the transfer portal often have at least 1-2 years of college under their belt.

At the very least, they have had time to physically mature while having time to experience the speed of the college game.

That’s invaluable to a program like Florida State. However, players are in the transfer portal for different reasons, and that’s why Mike Norvell spoke about the importance of evaluating those players to see if they are the right fit.

It seems they were able to do that in the 2020 recruiting cycle, and they’ll need to do it again in 2021.
