Chubba Purdy

I know some fans are already trying to call Purdy a bust, although he’s never made a college start and has less than 60 college snaps to his credit.

That’s nonsense and seems to be some bitterness from the whole Jeff Sims situation. I’m not sure Purdy will start, but I think the probability for him to is high. I wrote earlier this week this would be a good game for him to start.

I don’t expect him to look like Jameis Winston against Pittsburgh in 2013, but I do hope to see him be able to play the game without it looking like things are going 100 mph for him.

He’s been thrown into some tough situations the last two games with defenses fielding big leads and pinning their ears back to get after the quarterback.

If he starts, it’ll be the first time he’s seen action with an actual gameplan to follow from the start. My hope is FSU leans heavily on the run game while giving Purdy opportunities to have success and gain some confidence.

If so, that’s something FSU football fans can see and at least feel like there could be a future there.
