FSU football: Who gets most of the blame for Saturday’s performance?

The Players

I was pleased with how the players started the game. The defense was playing well aside from a big pass play by Pittsburgh on their first possession.

The defense held them to a field goal and forced punts on Pittsburgh’s next two possessions. That’s progress, right?

The FSU offense scored a touchdown on their first two possessions, and it’s 14-3 with the Noles getting the ball for their third offensive possession.

First of all, the drive began with a bad decision to run back the kickoff, as they only made it back to the 17-yard line.

I love La’Damian Webb, but he’s not breaking off a huge kickoff return, so take the free yards and take the ball at the 25-yard line.

This drive was the turning point in the game as it appears there was some miscommunication on the interception between Jordan Travis and freshman wide receiver Kentron Poitier.

As I mentioned, Pittsburgh scored a touchdown after the turnover and proceeded to score touchdowns on two of their next three possessions.

These guys don’t respond to adversity, and there’s nothing the coaching staff can do about it. It’s in their DNA and who they are as a program right now. It’s up to the players to decide if and when they want to fight back.
