FSU football: 3 offensive improvements needed in second half of season
By Kelvin Hunt
Red Zone Offense
The red-zone is arguably the area the offense has struggled the most. The offense has done a fine job of getting in the red zone, but have struggled mightily to put the ball in the end zone or even to come away with points.
The Noles have already been in the red zone 24 times in six games compared to just 40 times through 13 games in 2019.
The problem is they are only scoring 71 percent of the time, and touchdowns have only scored 54 percent of the time.
That’s quite a drop-off from last season when they scored 82.50 percent of the time, with touchdowns happening at a 67.50 percent clip.
The Noles had seven red-zone trips that came away with no points in13 games last season. They already have seven red-zone trips with no points in six games this year.
Mike Norvell spoke about this problem during one of his earlier press conferences this week. The ability to score points becomes even more important with the way the FSU football defense has performed through the first six games.
