Offense

Remember how the offense was terrible in the first two games, and the defense seemed to be playing at about 50 percent effort?

I think the problem with the offense against Louisville was a few things:

  • Louisville made Jordan Travis beat them with his arm
  • FSU’s offense felt the pressure of needing to score every time because the defense was allowing TD’s every possession

How many drops did the receivers have on the day? Keyshawn Helton had at least two drops, with at least one of them being a touchdown. Did you see the catches Keyshawn Helton had last week against North Carolina? He didn’t all of a sudden forget how to catch the ball, it’s pressing and not having the confidence he had when everything was going well against North Carolina.

Other players saw Keyshawn Helton drop the ball, and things became contagious at that point. The drops became comical at one point late in the game when Chubba Purdy came in, and it’s a shame too. He could have had two touchdowns to his credit had the receivers made plays for him.

The same way the defense lacked confidence in the offense in the first two games, is the same thing that’s happening with the offense right now.
