FSU football: 5 keys to victory for Noles against Louisville
By Kelvin Hunt
Don’t Settle For Field Goals
FSU football has done a great job of reaching the red zone through five games. They’ve had 20 drives to enter the red zone compared to 40 through 13 games last season.
The only problem is they are only scoring 75 percent of the time(touchdowns or field goals), but only scoring touchdowns 55 percent of the time.
There have been five times where they have gotten into the red zone and have not scored any points. Most of the time, they’ve faltered because of penalties that have put them behind the chains.
However, when they are in these positions moving forward, they can’t settle for field goals. The crazy part is they could have put North Carolina away had they made the two field goals they missed.
FSU needs to address the kicker position ASAP, but it is something I wrote about in the preseason with having inexperience at the position.
Louisville is a good offensive team as they are averaging nearly six yards per play. We hope the FSU defense that showed up in the first half against North Carolina shows up, but putting seven points on the board instead of three always takes some pressure off the defense.
