The FSU Special Teams is one of the best in the nation. They are one of the better return games in the nation, with two blocked field goals, a blocked extra point, and the two blocked punts from Saturday night.

Last night the punting game also proved itself valuable as Australian punter Alex Mastromanno whose unique punting style has provided muffs all season, and the big spins have given him a 42.8-yard average distance against UNC.

Normally, special teams are not emphasized as much by coaches, but this staff has emphasized that phase of the game since day one under Mike Norvell. That unit has become a strength for this team and has tipped results in their favor, and given momentum to the other sides of the ball.

I included the offense, defense, and special teams as a whole because the totality of those elements of the game playing near their best is what won us the game. They all played in a complementary fashion, as did the positions on that side of the ball.
