HB Jahsaun Corbin (RS Soph)

Corbin saw his workload drastically reduced against Notre Dame, carrying the ball only twice for nine yards. Corbin was also not used much in the passing game. This situation is due to the number of carries Jordan Travis got, and the emergence of Webb as the clear starter.

Going into 2020, Corbin was projected as the starting running back, so it is a bit surprising to see him get replaced by Webb so quickly. However, expect to see Corbin get continued involvement in the offense, most likely more so in the screen game.

HB Lawrence Toafili (FR)

After his explosive performance last week, Toafili only received three carries against ND for one yard. However, he did a record a long reception that went for 31 yards early in the first, on a well-run corner route. Despite his lack of carries against the Irish, Toafili looks like a future star for the Noles, and this offense must get him touches.

HB Ja’khi Douglas (FR)

Douglas recorded one reception for 17 yards after lining up at slot receiver. While it looks unlikely at this point, Douglas will receive significant reps in the backfield, but he may be an asset in the passing game.

RT Robert Scott (FR)

For the second straight week, Scott got the start at right tackle. While he was not always physically capable of blocking the ND front (which makes sense for a freshman), Scott played well. The new rushing attack helps the O-line immensely by causing the defense to be much-less aggressive with their blitz calls and d-line assignments. It helps a freshman like Scott, who is not forced to sit back in pass pro, and instead can aggressively run block.

Scott is by no means a perfect prospect, and still has a whole lot of room to grow. However, he shows a ton of promise, and Noles fans should be excited to see how he develops. Sometimes, throwing young prospects into the fireworks out, as it did with the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl. Sometimes, it doesn’t. But with Scott, as long as he develops physically and stays relatively healthy, he has a bright future in Tallahassee.

LT Thomas Shrader (FR)

Shrader did not see any in-game action against Notre Dame.

Bottom Line

The offense was much better than expected, and aside from Jordan Travis, the newcomers to the FSU football had a lot to do with rapid improvement.
