FSU football: 3 thoughts on defensive performance against Notre Dame

Defense Played Hard For Four Quarters
One of the most disappointing things from the first four games was the defensive effort in the first nine or 10 quarters of football this season.

However, I think I can be honest and say those players played hard for all four quarters for the most part. Were they making great decisions, taking great angles, or making the tackles they needed to make?
No, but it wasn’t because they were not trying. I legitimately believe they gave everything they had, but it’s just not good enough right now.
The majority of the players they have are not very good, aside from Amari Gainer, Asante Samuel Jr, Robert Cooper, and Fabien Lovett.
However, we’ve seen this defensive group have two goal-line stands at the end of the last two games. They easily could have allowed Jacksonville State to score when the game was over, and the same could have been said against Notre Dame Saturday night.
They continued to play and keep both teams out of the end zone, although it wouldn’t have changed anything in the win or loss column.
At the very least, they are giving effort now for the most part, but there’s a lot Adam Fuller has to get fixed.
