Key Moments Hurt The Noles
FSU was in the game in the first half due to Notre Dame turning the ball over twice. The Noles scored 10 points off their turnovers, but the Noles had some miscues of their own that cost them too.

One of the biggest moments in the game came late in the second quarter. The Noles ran the ball down Notre Dame’s throat behind La’Damian Webb’s physical running attack and had the ball on the Notre Dame 12-yard line with 1:34 to go in the half.
Jordan Travis fired a bullet to Tamorrion Terry on a slant route that Terry got two-hands on, but the pass went through his hands. It should have been a touchdown, which would have made it 28-24 with the Noles getting the ball first in the second half.
Ultimately, FSU had to settle for a field goal and kicked off to Notre Dame with 1:17 remaining in the half. FSU kicked the ball short on purpose, and Notre Dame returned the kick to the 43-yard line.
All of the previous kickoffs had gone for touchbacks, so the decision to kick it short cost them, as Notre Dame drove down and scored a touchdown to make it 35-20 just before the half.
A dropped touchdown pass and a poor decision to kick the kickoff short severely cost the Noles on the scoreboard, not to mention a stupid penalty on Notre Dame’s drive-by Jaiden Lars-Woodbey.
It didn’t help FSU came out and took their first possession in the second half in for a touchdown. Just imagine, it could have been 31-28 in the third quarter.
