FSU football coaches are still hard at work with its 2021 recruiting class. A player they offered a while ago is still high on the Noles.

The 2020 version of the FSU football offense has shown the program is in dire need of playmakers, especially at the defensive tackle position.

That position group has underperformed in recent years  despite having blue-chip talent. The Noles losing Marvin Wilson, Cory Durden, and possibly Robert Cooper means that position needs an influx of top-tier talent.

That’s what makes 2021 blue-chip Tywone Malone so coveted for the ‘Noles recruiting class. He was offered in February by the new staff and is desperately needed in this class.

Malone released his final six schools Monday night with the Noles making the cut:

Malone checks in at 6′ 3.5″ and 305 pounds and is considered the No. 55 ranked player nationally, No. 5 defensive tackle, and No. 1 player in New Jersey.

Malone holds 29 offers from the likes of FSU, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and others.

There are no 247 Crystal Ball predictions for Malone at this time. He’s a dual-sport athlete that’s also looking to play baseball in college. If I’m looking at the schools listed in his top six, that has to make FSU football fans feel great.

FSU baseball is always among the best in the nation, and the only other program that can consistently say that among the top six is Ole Miss.

Thoughts

The pandemic has made getting recruits to campus difficult, and Malone has yet to visit FSU from his home state in New Jersey. However, he fits arguably the biggest need on the FSU roster and would likely play early.

He would be a massive addition to the recruiting class if the Noles could gain his commitment.
