LB Stephen Dix (FR)

Dix once again did not start but did see significant playing time at the ‘Will’ linebacker spot. However, after recording a massive amount of tackles last week, he recorded none this week. The defense, especially the front seven, was disappointing, but Dix did do a decent job with his run fits. However he, along with the rest of the linebacking corps, must work on their ability to defend the middle of the field while in zone coverage.

DE Josh Griffis (FR)

Griffis was relegated to a reduced role with the return of Josh Kaindoh but did see significant snaps. He recorded no stats but did a good job setting the edge. However, Griffis was effectively locked down on passing downs by JSU’s left tackle. He must improve in this area when he takes over full time for Kaindoh.

CB Jarrian Jones (Soph)

Jones once again got the start but saw a reduced role on defense, splitting snaps with Jarvis Brownlee. He recorded two tackles and defended one pass. Jones, like the rest of the secondary, had a tough time in the first half but pulled it together by the end of the game.

DT Fabian Lovett (RS Soph)

Lovett got the start in place of Marvin Wilson and recorded two tackles. He did not get a great push all day but did record a half-sack on this play during the second quarter.

Lovett gets locked up early on but does a good job of cleaning up the quarterback. We need to see more dominance from Lovett, but this is not a bad job by any means.

LB DJ Lundy (FR)

Lundy recorded his first tackle as a Seminole and should get more playing time in the future.

CB Meiko Dotson (SR)

Dotson saw playing time covering the slot and recorded one tackle.

The defense still must improve if the Noles want to have a winning record this year. But, their rally against JSU was a good sign. Hopefully, that momentum carries into South Bend next week.
