Execution on Both Sides Of The Ball

We’ve seen the offense execute well on about  three drives this season. They’ve looked good on both of their opening drives against Georgia Tech and Miami, and they look good in their third-quarter opening drive against Miami.

However, other than that, it’s been a comedy of errors, penalties, negative plays, and turnovers.

The offense is averaging 4.1 yards per play, and the defense is allowing 6.01 yards per play. The defense is allowing teams to convert third downs 59 percent of the time, while the offense is only converting 38.71 percent of the time.

The offense has had three turnovers in both games. The only phase of the game they have looked consistently competent is in special teams.

There were too many tackles for loss Saturday night and not enough pressure by the FSU football defense.

I need to see improvement in this area against Jacksonville State. The defensive line needs to dominate. and the linebackers need to play better too.

Jacksonville State has a decent quarterback, so this will a good measuring stick to see how the defense reacts after getting rolled by Miami last week.
