FSU football: Is there enough young talent to shorten the turnaround?

Young Defensive Nucleus

This defense is the area of the team that’s most concerning. The trenches on the defensive side of the ball will need to be given attention immediately after missing at defensive end and defensive tackle the past few recruiting cycles.

The trenches are an area the staff will need to hit the transfer portal hard. In terms of the linebacker group, the roster has some talent there to work within Stephen Dix Jr., Kalen DeLoach, Amari Gainer, TJ Davis, Kevon Glenn, and they have Branden Jennings Jr. in the 2021 recruiting class.

The secondary has a lot of young talent in Travis Jay, Akeem Dent, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, Brendan Gant, Jarvis Brownlee, Demorie Tate, and one of the better 2021 secondary classes in the nation.

So there’s talent here in the back end, but it’s the front end that is going to need some immediate work. I think what we’ll see is a young FSU offense having to outscore some folks to win for a year or two unless the coaching staff can find some band-aids in the transfer portal or JUCO ranks.
