FSU Football: Looking at how Tribe20 performed against Miami
By Sam Tschida
After FSU Football lost against Miami last Saturday, Chop Chat’s Sam Tschida takes a look at how the newcomers played against the Canes.
I would say that the Seminoles attempted to play Miami on Saturday, but gave up after about the third drive of the game. Instead, the team mostly went down to Coral Gables to accept a blowout from the Canes and fly right back up to Tallahassee as fast as possible.
There aren’t many positives to take away from the game. The majority of the team quit, the leaders set a bad example, and the execution was bad.
The only non-negatives that the fanbase seems to have noticed were some of the young guys from Tribe19 and Tribe20. Here’s how they did.
Offense
QB Tate Rodemaker (FR)
The Valdosta freshman saw his first snaps for FSU football against Miami to the delight of many in the fanbase. He went 5-9 with 47 yards passing and one interception against a mix of backups for the Canes, with a few starters still in. Rodemaker didn’t get a lot of chances to showcase his talents, but he didn’t look too bad.
For example, this throw to Camren McDonald late in the game. It isn’t a fantastic throw, but it’s not bad. Rodemaker leaves the pocket a bit early, but does a good job of sensing pressure (only a three-man rush…woof) and finds McDonald for the first. He would throw an interception two plays later, but at that point, the game was very-much over. It wasn’t an overly impressive performance, but it wasn’t awful either; if the struggles continue with Blackman, expect to see more of Rodemaker out there.
