FSU football: One position change will change the future in Tallahassee
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football is at a point where it needs to go with a full youth movement. The most important position to change is at quarterback.
I wrote how FSU football needs go to with a full youth movement after the Miami loss Saturday night, and the first move that needs to happen is a change at quarterback.
I’ve vouched for James Blackman, pointed out how he’d been dealt a bad hand, how better coaching could save him, etc.
However, it’s clear to me now that this program has no chance to win with him at quarterback. That may be true with playing a true freshman like Tate Rodemaker or Chubba Purdy, but at least the coaching staff can start building towards the future.
Indeed, the defense hasn’t played anywhere near the level we thought they were capable of, and there are several reasons for it.
However, I believe one of the reasons some of the older guys don’t play hard is because they know the offense can’t deliver with James Blackman at quarterback. It’s like they are playing half-heartedly while trying not to get hurt, especially the defensive line.
It’s one thing to have a bad defense, we’ve seen that in Tallahassee during the later years of the Bobby Bowden era. However, if you have a good offense, you can always at least have a fighting chance to win.
Mike Norvell is an offensive coach and has landed two quarterbacks he’s recruited since becoming head coach at FSU. It’s time to give the reigns to one or both of them next week against Jacksonville State.
How can this change the future in Tallahassee?
