D’Eriq King Can Be Contained

One of the biggest questions was how the FSU football defense will perform going up against D’Eriq King.

The Noles saw a mobile quarterback against Georgia Tech, but King is quicker and more shifty than Jeff Sims, however, Louisville showed King can be slowed down on the ground.

He ran eight times for nine yards with his longest run on the night being only five yards. Louisville had a lot of success bringing pressure up the middle like the play below:

FSU’s defensive ends would run around the pocket off the edge, which allowed Sims to escape for big gains with his legs. The trenches are where FSU’s defensive line has to step up and make their presence felt against a sub-par Miami offensive line.

If the pressure comes from up the middle, this will be the result of more times than not.
